addition to maintaining several of the metabolic functions of the body,
the liver is responsible for neutralizing and removing toxins and other
harmful substances from the blood. The liver takes toxins out of the

Milk Thistle protects the liver and improves its function. Milk
Thistle contains three powerful flavonoids: silybin, silydianin, and
silychristin, which are usually referred to as silymarin. The
liver-protective effects of silymarin are well researched, showing
protection against such liver toxins as alcohol, carbon tetrachloride,
pesticides, heavy metals, and acetaminophen overdose. Additionally,
silymarin was shown to increase glutathione in the liver, stomach, and
intestines.
Blessed Thistle is an herb that supports already healthy bile production
by the liver. Bile salts aid in digestion by emulsifying fats and by
promoting the absorption of fats and the fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E,
and K) through the intestinal wall. The alkaline pH of bile also helps to
neutralize stomach acid in the small intestine, providing a better
environment for the pancreatic enzymes.
